Terms of Service

Welcome to OpenWriting Coach. These terms are the agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. We kept them short and plain.

What OpenWriting Coach is

OpenWriting Coach is a writing community for people learning English. You write about your real life, an AI coach suggests corrections and explains why, and you can share your entries in public to learn together.

Your account

When you sign up, give accurate information and keep it up to date. An account is for one person — do not share your login or pretend to be someone else. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your password safe.

How old you must be

You must be at least 13 years old to use OpenWriting Coach. If you live in the European Economic Area (EEA), you must be at least 16, unless a parent or guardian gives permission. If you are younger than this, please do not use the site.

Your content

You own what you write. It stays yours.

To run the site, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and share your writing as part of the service. This lets us do normal things like show your entry on your profile and in the community feed.

If you make an entry public, that entry — including the coach's report on it — becomes visible to anyone on the internet. Keep an entry private if you do not want others to see it. You can delete your entries or your whole account at any time.

Using the site fairly

Please follow our Community Guidelines. They explain what you can and cannot post — for example, write your own words, and no hateful, illegal, or harmful content. Breaking the guidelines can lead to content removal or account suspension.

About the AI coach

The coach is automated. It uses an AI model to suggest corrections, explanations, and word ideas. It can be wrong, incomplete, or miss things — use your own judgment. The coach is a learning tool, not professional, legal, medical, or academic advice.

Removing content and suspending accounts

We may remove content, or limit or suspend an account, that breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines, or to keep the community safe. When we can, we will explain why.

The service is provided "as is"

We work hard to keep OpenWriting Coach useful and available, but we cannot promise it will always be perfect, error-free, or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we provide the site "as is" and are not liable for losses that come from using it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the "last updated" date above. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong SAR.
